This little girl is getting married today. At 4, she is way too young. But she isn’t that shy little girl anymore. If you know her, you laugh at that adjective! However, she was “mama’s girl.” It seemed she was permanently attached to my left knee…I can still feel her little hand hanging on as she hid behind me!
But – she’s a 30-something, independent, fierce, confident, bold young woman who has navigated life’s obstacles, disappointments and setbacks with determination and success on her mind. She is driven, stubborn and unyielding. She is also compassionate, generous and loves whole-heartedly.
Not just any man can measure up to her standards. I am thankful that she waited for the guy who cherishes her, challenges her, and chastens her when needed!
Max, you are the one I trust with my girl’s heart. She is safe with you. Your character mirrors hers and together you are beautiful to watch. You are the man I’ve prayed for her to find for many years.
Layne and Max, you will continue your journey this afternoon in front of only parents, rather than 200 planned guests thanks to Covid19 “under 10.” I know this won’t slow your journey. The two of you have adapted well to the unexpected over the past few years. I look forward to watching you grow together and seeing you build your own family.
